On today's episode of Educhatwithbella,we will be taking a look at the English sound system

The English sound system.

There is a relationship between sounds and spelling system. Nevertheless the connection between them is neither candid or recognisable.

The sounds of English are not the same as the letters. The pattering founded in the sound system of English is a reflection of physiology of the vocal tract. The changing of air flow involves basic principle.

When we make a sound ,air moves through the vocal cords and passes out through the nose. As the sound moves ,the air flow is changed through vibrating the vocal cords,by opening the velum to let go out through the nose, and by toning the air flow completely on the mouth.

When we understand the English sound system, then it becomes less difficult to make sense of spelling.

There are 44 sounds in the English sound system, 24 of those sounds are consonants while the other 20 sounds are the vowels ( I'm guessing you thought it's 5 vowels and 21 consonants right😁😁).

The sound system makes reading and identification of words as lot easier.

Identifying the sounds makes it easy to make sense of words ,thereby reading becomes fun and less brain tasking .

The first step to learning reading pattern is to have a good knowledge of the English sound system.

In our next blog we will be looking at the vowels sounds ( it's not a,e,I,o,u 😁😁😁) .
